FAQ
Every piece we make begins with care, curiosity, and craft — here are some of the questions we’re most often asked along the way. If you have a question that is not being answered here, feel free to contact us.
Craftmanship & Materials
What materials do you use?
We work with a considered palette of metals — each chosen for its beauty, resilience, and the way it responds to the hand and the flame.
You’ll find us working most often in silver — from the ultra-pure brilliance of 999 fine silver, to the balanced strength of 925 sterling, and the luminous, tarnish-resistant 940 Argentium, which we favor for its hypoallergenic and low-maintenance qualities. We also craft in high-karat gold, including 24K, for its richness and warmth.
For contrast and character, we often turn to brass and copper — humble, beautiful materials that age with soul and patina over time.
Each metal we use brings a different voice to the work. Together, they let us shape pieces that are not only visually striking but grounded, intentional, and built to endure.
What is Argentium Silver?
Argentium silver is a modern evolution of traditional sterling — brighter, purer, and far more resistant to tarnish. While sterling silver is typically 92.5% pure, we use Argentium 940, which contains 94% fine silver — making it even more refined. The remaining metals include a small amount of germanium, a rare element that dramatically increases tarnish resistance and durability.
Argentium 940 is nickel-free and hypoallergenic, making it gentle on sensitive skin. It’s also harder, brighter, and slower to tarnish than traditional sterling, requiring less polishing and maintenance over time.
At Pineda & Co., we choose Argentium 940 for its integrity: responsibly sourced, skin-safe, and made to last. It allows us to hand-forge pieces that shine with uncommon clarity and age with quiet grace — like the stories they carry.
Is your jewelry hypoallergenic?
Yes — we take great care in choosing materials that are kind to the skin. Many of our pieces are crafted in Argentium 940, a nickel-free silver alloy known for its purity, brilliance, and hypoallergenic properties. We also work with high-karat gold, tantalum, and zirconium — all metals celebrated for their excellent biocompatibility.
We believe beauty should never come at the cost of comfort — our work is made to be worn, lived in, and loved, even by the most sensitive of skins.
Where can I purchase your work?
Our pieces are available right here on our website and at a handful of carefully chosen in-person markets. We keep things intentionally small and personal — no mass production, no middlemen — just handcrafted work, offered directly from our hands to yours.
Are you taking custom orders?
Yes — custom work is at the heart of what we do. Many of our pieces begin with a conversation, a spark of inspiration, or a story waiting to be told in metal and stone. If something you’ve seen has already found its home, don’t worry — we’d be honoured to create a one-of-a-kind piece just for you, shaped by your vision and crafted by our hands. Reach out — let’s bring your idea to life.
Do you repair or resize jewelry?
We don’t offer repairs or resizing on pieces made outside our studio. Every maker works with different materials, techniques, and design choices — and out of respect for that work (and yours), we choose to focus solely on pieces crafted by our own hands. If you’re looking for something new or inspired by a cherished piece, we’d be happy to explore a custom creation together.
Order Process & Customization
How long do custom orders take?
Custom work is a slower kind of magic — thoughtful, personal, and shaped by hand from start to finish. Most custom orders take 2 to 4 weeks, but timing can vary depending on the complexity of the design and the materials involved.
Occasionally, sourcing a specific stone or unusual metal can take a little longer — we don’t rush that part. We believe the right materials are worth waiting for, and we’ll always keep you updated as your piece comes to life.
This is jewelry made with intention, not speed — and when it’s ready, it will be worth the wait.
What’s the difference between Ready to Ship and Made to Order items?
Ready to Ship pieces are one-of-a-kind creations that are finished, polished, and waiting patiently to find their forever home — they usually ship within a few days.
Made to Order pieces, on the other hand, are crafted just for you. These are designs we make in small batches or recreate individually upon request. Because each one is shaped by hand from raw materials, they take a little more time — usually 2 to 4 weeks — and may vary slightly from the original, making each one uniquely yours.
Both options carry the same heart and craftsmanship — the difference is whether the piece is already in our hands, or waiting to be brought to life in yours.
How do I order a custom piece?
It all begins with a conversation.
If you have a vision, a story, a stone, or even just a feeling you want to carry in metal, reach out to us — through our contact form, email, or at one of our markets. We’ll talk about your ideas, materials, budget, and timeline, and begin sketching a piece that’s uniquely yours.
From there, we’ll keep you involved in the process — sharing updates, photos, and options as your piece takes shape at the bench. Whether it’s a deeply personal talisman or a gift with meaning, we’ll create something that feels true to you, made by hand and made to last.
How can I contact you?
We’d love to hear from you!
For all inquiries — whether it’s about a custom jewelry piece, an existing order, or just to say hello — you can reach us through our Contact page
You can also email us directly at info@pinedaandco.com. We aim to respond within 1–2 business days.
Please note: As a small artisan studio, we’re often at the bench or in the field — but rest assured, your message matters and will receive our full attention.
Shipping & Returns
How long will it take to receive my order?
That depends on whether your piece is Ready to Ship or Made to Order.
Ready to Ship items typically leave our studio within 3–5 business days, while Made to Order pieces are handcrafted just for you and usually ship within 2–4 weeks. Custom designs may take a little longer, especially if we’re sourcing unique materials — but we’ll always keep you informed every step of the way.
Once shipped, delivery times vary depending on your location and chosen shipping method. If you’re working with a specific deadline, let us know — we’ll do our best to make it happen.
Every piece is made slowly and with care — and when it arrives, it’s meant to be treasured for a lifetime.
Do you accept returns or exchanges?
Because each piece is handmade — often to order or as a one-of-a-kind — we’re not able to accept returns or exchanges unless there’s been an error on our part or the item arrives damaged.
That said, your experience matters deeply to us. If something feels off or doesn’t meet your expectations, please reach out within 7 days of receiving your order. We’re committed to making things right and will always handle your concerns with care and integrity.
This is slow, intentional work — and while all sales are final, your trust is never taken for granted.
Care & Maintenance
How do I care for my jewelry?
Our pieces are made to be worn, loved, and lived in — but like all meaningful things, they appreciate a little care.
To keep your jewelry looking its best, remove it before swimming, showering, or working with harsh chemicals. When not in use, store it in a dry place, ideally in a soft pouch or box to protect it from scratches and tarnish.
Argentium silver is wonderfully low-maintenance and resists tarnish better than traditional sterling, but all metals benefit from the occasional gentle polish with a soft cloth. High-karat gold, brass, copper, and natural stones may deepen in character over time — we embrace this as part of their living beauty, but if you ever prefer to restore their original gleam, we’re happy to help.
Your piece was shaped by hand to last a lifetime — and with just a bit of care, it will.
Brand & Values
Who makes your jewelry?
Every piece is designed and handcrafted by our small family team here in Edmonton, Canada. We are a trio of jewelry artisans, supported by two four-legged companions and a whole lot of heart.
At the bench, you’ll find Mario, our senior bench monkey and eternal apprentice, shaping metal and stone with traditional tools. Veronica, our design lead and creative compass, brings clarity, elegance, and fierce honesty to every piece — nothing leaves the studio without her blessing. And Matias, the youngest of us all, is the spark that lit the very first torch. His spirit of play and curiosity keeps us inspired and on our toes.
We began this journey during the quiet chaos of the 2020 pandemic lockdown — as a way to heal, create, and reconnect — and it has since grown into a practice of storytelling through metal and stone. Our jewelry is made slowly, in small batches and with traditional metalsmithing techniques.
Together with Princess the cat (box inspector, supervisor, and sovereign of sunbeams) and Chico the dog (emotional support officer, nap expert, and snack guardian), we pour ourselves into each piece. This is more than jewelry — it’s our shared labor of love, made by hand, made with soul, and made to be part of your story.
Why don’t you mass-produce your jewelry?
Because that’s not the kind of story we want to tell.
Our pieces are made one at a time, by our hands, in our small studio in Edmonton. We don’t use mass-production techniques like casting, 3D printing, or outsourcing to factories overseas. There are no molds, no machines stamping out replicas by the thousands. Instead, we cut, shape, forge, solder, and finish every piece ourselves — using traditional metalsmithing techniques, human hands, and honest tools.
In a world flooded with fast, factory-made goods, we choose a slower path — one rooted in local craftsmanship, small-batch production, and meaningful connection. When you support our work, you're not just buying jewelry. You're helping sustain a family-run studio, investing in your local economy, and preserving a way of making that values soul over speed.
We don’t mass-produce because what we make isn’t meant for the masses. It’s meant for you — personal, intentional, and made to last.
